From the charm of the Medieval stone in Cornello del Tasso to the Harlequin of Oneta
The Brembana Valley has represented for dozens of years the favorite way to transport and commercialize manufactured iron, textiles, salt and spices from Bergamo to Valtellina and Switzerland. At the same time from this Valley thousands of emigrants left, among which some were distinguished for initiative, like the famous Harlequin mask!
Arrival at Camerata Cornello, counted among the “Most Beautiful Hamlets of Italy”. Visit to the structure of the hamlet, still more or less intact for centuries: from the lower level, with the unmistakable colonnaded street, seat of the small shops and the rich street market that took place weekly during the active period of the Mercatorum road, them ascending up to the noble levels characterized by the façades of the buildings frescoed with the family crests, among which the dynasty of the Tasso’s stands out, and finally the Romanesque church, that dominates the hamlet and the surrounding silent nature. Not to forget the stop at the vestiges of the Tasso family’s dwelling, famous for having founded and spread in Europe the postal service, to which a complete museum is dedicated. A brief walk through the level shady woods leads to Oneta, a small inhabited nucleus of ancient construction, where the Harlequins birth house stands out: He was a local emigrant who went to Venice to find work and he distinguished himself for his flair and creativity, becoming a goliardic mask. Lunch in a characteristic restaurant. Return to the hotel.
